The Ridgewood VAC offers a New York State Department of Health Certified Basic Life Support Ambulance and a 2-3 person crew at no cost to you, the patient. We respond to all locations within our service area quickly, and safely. From the base on Onderdonk Avenue, it will take between 3-5 minutes to respond to any location within our service area. This is less time it takes other 9-1-1 participating agencies / hospitals to arrive to the scene. Upon arrival, you will be receiving the highest level of care from our trained, state-certified volunteers. Pending the condition of the patient, they can choose any hospital they want to be taken to - other than the two in our service area.
Non-Emergency Transport Services
If you do not have transportation to and from your hospitals, or appointments, let us know! Aside from emergencies, pre-planned transport services are offered to all members of the communities that we serve. If you are experiencing an emergency, do not wait, call 9-1-1 immediately. If you are not experiencing an emergency, plan ahead with us. On the date of your choice, volunteer EMTs will pick you up at your residence, bring you to your desired location and then return you home safely. These services must be scheduled in advance so volunteers can get the ambulance ready. Your destination does not need to be located in within our service area.
RVAC volunteers understand how expensive medical services can be, even after you get discharged from the hospital. The price of medical assistance equipment, such as walkers, canes, and crutches is unfairly high. For free, you can rent our equipment for a pre-determined time period to not only save money, but to get the medical assistance you need to remain mobile and healthy. Our rentable equipment includes:
The Ridgewood VAC also accepts and appreciates equipment donations. If you would like to donate equipment, a RVAC member will promptly pick up and take it off your hands.
